Condolence: I knew Ed and his wife from his relatively brief time out west, when he lived in Victoria. But I had heard many fond stories about Ed from my senior colleagues at the Pacific Biological Station (DFO) in Nanaimo, where I worked at the time. I also have very fond memories of my wide-ranging conversations with Ed at the time, and also enjoyed hearing from Ed about his daughter Marjorie, who I had gone to grad school with at Dalhousie, and had then lost track of in the pre-internet era! Marjorie, if you read this, please accept my sincere sympathies to you and your siblings... and it would be grand to catch up again if you have the time. Best wishes, David (david.welch@kintama.com).

Condolence: I am saddened by the death of this wonderful man.I have special memories of him when he was a leader of the Mccoun Field Club at the old, then Victoria Museum in the late '50s. We had field trips and many movies and lectures. I was on the third TV show, Let's Go to the Museum, hosted by Robert McNeil. We children were always so impressed by the fact that scientists would give up their Saturday mornings to spend with us. The club led me to a life long interest in natural science. I used my interest in teaching Elementary School and as a Girl Guide leader and now with my grandchildren. Bless you Dr.B.

Condolence: Dr. Bousfield, I was saddened to hear that you have left us. Thanks for your wisdom that you shared with me when putting together the Animal Life 3 & 4 Halls in the early 1970s at the Victoria Memorial Museum in Ottawa. It was a joy to have had the opportunity to work with you and come to know you as a special human being. May you rest in Peace. My condolence to the family.

Condolence: I worked for and with Ed for many years. He was single minded as far as his research, on both Amphipods and Caddy, was concerned. His musical talents showed up at celebrations, and his love of Curling was very obvious.
My condolences to the family on the death of this remarkable man.

Condolence: I was very sorry to learn of Ed's passing. I first met Ed in the early 1990s, when I was writing a document for Environment Canada that used amphipods as test organisms when measuring the toxicity of sediment samples. This resulted in Ed coming to Vancouver Island for the filming of instructional videos on how to collect, identify, and handles these critters. Ed went on to prepare the detailed illustrations that he was so skilled at, which are included in this document and extremely helpful to many technicians and scientists across Canada and abroad. And this also led to our last friendship. My wife and I enjoyed many coffee get-togethers with Ed and Joyce when they were living in Victoria. And of course Ed's zeal to "find caddie" was always a fun point of conversation between him and me, with Ed always reminding me to have a camera and a sharp eye when kayaking around Cadboro ("Caddie") Bay and vicinity. Thank you for all the good chats and memories, Ed!

Condolence: My deepest sympathy on Ed's passing. His commitment to science knew no bounds, but the joy he took in each new discovery was seconded only by his pride in his children. You are in my thoughts.

Condolence: I am writing on behalf of the Canadian Museum of Nature. It was with great sadness that we learned of the passing of Dr. Bousfield. Ed had a celebrated career at the Museum and through his hard work and knowledge has added significantly to what we know about our country. His dedication and enthusiasm to scientific research was an inspiration to all and will be missed. Our condolences go out to his family.
